Learn how to use the Back Erase feature on SoundExpert® and Spartan™ Sound Level Meters Models 721 and 821. Available with firmware version 1.511 and later, Back Erase allows users to instantly remove the last 5, 10, or 15 seconds of recorded data from an active measurement without restarting the test.
This powerful field tool is ideal for attended noise measurements where unexpected or extraneous sounds can contaminate results. Whether it's a passerby shouting, a vehicle horn, or another transient noise event, Back Erase lets you quickly eliminate unwanted data and preserve the integrity of your measurement.
In this video, we'll demonstrate how to activate and use Back Erase, review common applications, review what the data looks like in measurement report files, and show how the feature helps improve efficiency and confidence in environmental, community, and occupational noise monitoring.
