Product Noise Testing
The Model 831 or SoundExpert LxT sound level meters provide the functions, metrics, and accessories needed to help you develop quieter products. These instruments are well suited for acoustic development in the automotive, motorcycle, appliance, turbine, and speaker industries. Available with free field or random incidence microphones and with a detachable preamplifier and microphone that comes with extension cable options from 6 to 200 feet, this device makes noise measurement and recording simple and portable.
Production Line Acoustic Testing
Production line acoustic testing is necessary for qualifying and inspecting a wide range of products and sub-assemblies. The Model 831 and the SoundExpert LxT meters provide an affordable method to measure noise for pass/fail assessments and for archiving for future traceability. This data can identify alignment errors, missing components, cracks, defects, and other anomalies. Octave band analysis can be used to get immediate diagnostic feedback as to what has failed on the component that can help root cause the concern and eliminate warranty costs. This data can also be used to predict subjective customer perceptions and to set quality standards that drive product acceptance and differentiation. The logic out feature can be used with your PLC for pass/fail indications.
High Pressure Level Measurements
The Larson Davis SoundTrack LXT1-QPR sound level meter is an ideal tool for measurement of loud impulsive noises created by firearms, impact devices, and explosive devices. For example, firearm examiners are often tasked with determining whether installation of a suppressor on a firearm results in an “acceptable” reduction of the sound pressure level of a gun. The SoundTrack LxT1-QPR utilizes a ¼” prepolarized pressure microphone that is capable of reading the very high levels. These readings can quickly be organized and stored on internal memory, and exported to a PC for archiving and reporting. Reports generated include selectable noise parameters (peak, background level, max SPL, etc.) as well as calibration history of the instrument, important for courtroom presentations. All Larson Davis sound level meters are supplied with NIST-traceable calibration certificates.
Audiometer Hearing Devices
The Larson Davis audiometer calibration systems combine the power and versatility of the System 824 real time analyzer with AUDit™ software to create a complete, portable solution for designing, testing, and calibrating earphones, hearing aids, or audiometers. This system comes with a full line of artificial ear couplers and accessories including the new AEC201-A, IEC 60318-1:2009 Ear Simulator, the AMC493B Artificial Mastoid, and the new AEC202, AEC203, and AEC204 insert earphone and hearing aid couplers.
Product Vibration Compliance
The Larson Davis Human Vibration Meter (HVM200) is well suited for measuring whole-body and hand-arm vibration. It will analyze the data in accordance with the most current ISO requirements to calculate exposure metrics. This is a very portable tool that is useful to measure tooling and steering wheel compliance with existing standards and regulations. When used with the seat pad accelerometer it can be used for evaluating ride quality and ergonomic compliance. The palm adapter is also very useful to measure the performance of anti-vibration gloves or other vibration isolation devices. Measuring all three axes of vibration simultaneously greatly simplifies the setup of a test and enhances the repeatability and correlation of the vibration data. From the three channels of measured data, the HVM100 automatically calculates the important vector sum information and presents it as a fourth set of data values. For compliance with the latest measurement standards, the HVM100 employs digital filters for each channel that can be enabled as needed, and will never be obsolete - should standards change, the filters can upgraded - electronically!
