How do I upgrade the firmware on my HVM100?
This FAQ outlines the procedure for using Blaze Demo to update HVM100 firmware to version 1.33.
Required Items
Warnings
- Upgrading firmware will cause any data stored on the HVM100 to be lost. All data should be downloaded prior to upgrading firmware
- Do not disconnect power while reprogramming firmware. This can render the HVM100 inoperable and require factory service.
Instructions
- Put fresh batteries into the HVM100 and turn the HVM100 power on
- Connect CBL006 between HVM100 and PC. If using a DVX008A USB to serial adapter, make sure the assigned serial port is less than COM14
- In Blaze demo, select Options > Connection

- For instrument type, select HVM then Connect
- Blaze demo uses a virtual HVM100 for demo purposes so COM port and Baud Rate selection don’t matter on this dialog
- Note: this does not actually connect to the HVM100 and is used only to enable the HVM100 instrument manager

5. In the HVM100 instrument manager, select Manual Control then Upload HVM100 Firmware which will start the firmware upgrade program.

6. On the first dialog, select Next
7. On the second dialog, check automatically detect communication settings
- Note: it may take several minutes for the automatic detection to complete

8. If the HVM100 is found, a menu with language options will appear. If the HVM100 is not found, verify the CBL006 is connected and the assigned COM port is less than COM14.

9. Select the desired language set and the Finish. The HVM100 will begin to reprogram the firmware and ask you to turn the HVM100 off then back on. Once this is completed, check the box and select OK
- NOTE: YOU ARE NOT DONE - KEEP THE HVM100 CONNECTED.

10. Once the message below has been displayed the firmware upload is complete and by pressing the on/off button the HVM100 will resume normal operation.
